Sacrifice

Sling Shot

Yesterday was no ordinary day but a very perceptible, almost abrupt awareness that something had definitely changed, that a veil of some sort had been lifted.  I'm unsure what the catalyst was (if any) and why it came on just now, a realization striking rather quickly like the blade of a well-honed knife slicing effortlessly through a piece of material.

That something was my coming to grips with my own mortality.

When we are ushered into this world we tend to forget that this initiation, this first step, is the beginning of an ultimate finality.

We are loved and nurtured by our parents as we grow through infancy into adolescence and, ultimately, adulthood.  Growing up we harbor happy memories of birthday parties and good times, close friends, swimming classes, ballet and baseball.  We then find our soul mate and continue our journey.  But do we give any thought during this time to growing older?   I dare say, not.

 ~Infancy, Adolescence, Adulthood~

Life throws many challenges at us whether it be coming home from war disabled and having to cope with a whole new set of circumstances, mustering the strength to overcome and keep going.   Or a newly divorced parent who is thrust into the role of being the sole provider and caregiver for his or her children.  Or learning how to be more flexible with your finances as you've just lost your job.  If I were to offer some advice and guidance on how to cope with Life it would be this:

We aren't branded at birth as to who we will become as our destiny is all up to us.
Do not be afraid of difficulty for through difficulties we find the resolve to overcome, emerging stronger and with a new purpose, a new sense of direction.
Embrace Life and welcome its challenges for through these circumstances we are able to grow, finding out who and what we are truly made of.
You are much stronger than you think you are.
When in doubt, pray.

Reflection

I wish everyone a Happy and Blessed Thanksgiving this November 27, 2014.  I ask for blessings to be heaped upon this great nation we live in. We tend to take so much for granted and are reminded, every so often, that life can be very fleeting.  That what we take for granted...safety and security, family, home, children, our religious freedoms, can be altered by events.  Sitting at the dining room table this morning I watched another beautiful sunrise.  Pink and purple, gold and bronze were the colors of the sky. Last night Abby and I sat under the Oak Tree and watched the sunset.  You could feel the warmth leaving and the cold starting to roll in.  Our fiery star slowly made its consummate descent in the western sky as its white gold sprays filtered through the trees, resulting in tiny golden droplets showering everything it touched.  We never know when it will be our last sunrise or sunset.  We never know when it will be our last "I love you."  Please take the time out of your busy days to reflect on how fortunate we are as a people, as a nation.   And, how can we make things even better, for all?  ~ God Bless.

The Synarchist Fifth Column

Fifth Column is a group of people who undermine a larger group, such as a nation or a besieged city, from within. The activities of a Fifth Column can be overt or clandestine. Forces gathered in secret can mobilize when coordination with an external attack requires and extend even to uniformed military operations as part of a coordinated campaign. They can be clandestine, involving acts of sabotage, disinformation, or espionage executed within defense lines by secret sympathizers with an external force.

Time Lords

What does it mean we are our Brother's Keeper?  Does it mean that we're all responsible for each other?   If so, how?

Compassion, humility, forgiveness and most of all Love is what all of us are capable of.

When we decide to give to a charity; when we put someone's needs ahead of our own; when we pray for someone's healing; when we visit an elderly person in a nursing home; when we bake cookies for the new neighbors on the block; when we put our arms around someone and share their grief; when we feed the hungry; when we mentor and administer to those in prison, when we rail against corporate giants like Monsanto, who are shoving GMOs down our throats, not because they feel for the masses, but because of greed, these are all examples of being our Brother's Keeper.

This world is full of horror, savagery, brutality, cruelty and barbarism along with those entities who only know how to hate and annihilate.

But this world is also full of goodness and love.

This goodness and love dwells in the hearts of men and only needs to be tapped.

When we continually feed something bad the end result is bad.  If, in turn, we feed something good we will end up with good.

If we all are truly accountable to and for one another then we need to rejoice in the fact that the more of us who act to make this world a better place, we will be slowing down and reversing the present cycle playing out across this planet thus making a better world for us all.

All for One and One for All.

Will it be possible for you to make a difference after you're gone?  Of course not.

The Time is Here.   The Time is Now.

Alan Turing, The Father of Computing

Starseed

A dazzling fractal of stars forms a blanket over my head
Old friends whisper, "One day you will find your way
  back to us."
The stirring of brittle brown leaves
  makes me weep
Once succulent, green and full of life
they now lie discarded at my feet
The air is cold and crisp and biting
I pull my jacket closer around me, inviting
Listening to my Telepath
I weave amongst the well-trod lath
Up ahead lies a looming forest
Mysterious, deep and dark
It holds no fear for I know its bark
Many magical and wondrous things have
  happened here
Elves and Gnomes, Faeries and Sprites
gather here all in the pale moonlight
This is a dense, deep, dark hidden realm
One that I know and oh, so well
Giggles and shouts of merriment and laughter
All gather here to meet with Enchanter
Mimicking and whistling they spin a new rhyme
Out of shadows steps The Enigmatic French Mime
Ivy and holly and mistletoe, too
All intertwined in the stately tall yew
The sweet morning dew that blankets the floor
In the morn we awake to hoarfrost and explore
What have the Urals to say?
Did they see many on their way?
The dancing lights
The many small people
Who soar around the tall, tall steeple
They live far away
They visit us often
Many are they from
