Eyes to the Skies - January 31, 2018

Black, Indigo, Crimson Red
These colors appeared in a dream I had
Do they show doom, impending dread?
Or are they celestial markers in the sky
Announcing the coming of
The One, Most High?
A Blood Moon, a Blue Moon
A Lunar Eclipse
We are all part of His script
I’d say it’s time
We bow our heads
And recognize we’re all but dead
A message deep
From within His Keep
Is prompting us to look inside
Purification, Reconciliation
Precursors to His Declaration
Ushering in our Liberation
Freeing us from Separation

Color Me a Rainbow

This afternoon around 4:30 I went out and checked everybody.  Brought the goats in, put the chickens away, fed the dogs and took my newest little stray, Max, out to play.

It was unusually quiet outside.

I stopped and listened.  There was a golden hush of silence over everything like Mother Earth was taking a deep breath.

The sun was shining down in shimmering iridescent sparkly streams of gold.  The animals bedded down, the sun beating on their backs while they munched on their hay.  The chickens cackled softly  as I put them to bed.

For one special moment, everything felt right with the world.

You could feel the softness and the warmth of the sun's rays as it touched everything.

"What did you do this afternoon"?  "Was it cold where you are"?  So cold that nobody ventured out or maybe you were able to and headed to Starbucks or a department store or your favorite restaurant.

Maybe you went for a walk down by the lake and watched the geese as they swam nearby.

Maybe you were a young mother in labor at the hospital who was comforted as she watched out her window the soft clouds passing by like giant puffy cotton balls, in between contractions, as her nervous yet excited husband held her hand.

Or maybe you were at a funeral saying your last goodbyes to a friend, a neighbor or a loved one.

Wherever you were, you and I were together, experiencing another day of life's ebbs and flows.

Lead, Follow or Get the Hell Out of the Way

John Wayne,
"I'm Going to Be Blunt, Pilgrim, Don't Leave Your Life To Chance."

Years ago I worked for a large construction firm.  The company president had a sign over his office door that read, "LEAD, FOLLOW OR GET THE HELL OUT OF THE WAY".   At first I was intimidated as I had no idea what it meant but after a while I realized its meaning which brings me to this week's topic.

I'm going to be blunt because I care about you:
Today, there are many young people, seventeen, eighteen years old who are ill equipped to deal with life.  They, literally, have no idea where they're going because no one has bothered to teach them.    They've been protected and coddled.  They haven't considered doing anything other than staying at home, sleeping late and playing video games.  They haven't found a job, enrolled in college, don't know how to make a bed, prepare a meal or clean a house.

This oversight will cost them and definitely affect where they end up.

Responsibility is a learned trait.  Trouble is many parents neglect this important tool when raising their kids so kids don't learn how just important it is and how vital it is to their success and well being.

The world has a place for you but you're the only one who can decide just exactly where your place holder will be.

When you're haphazard with life and thus ill prepared, life can and will reciprocate in kind.  If you can't come up with a plan then life will make one for you.  You'll have no say in what happens afterwards because you never engaged in the process in the first place.

Don't leave your life to chance (being stupid).

I can say all this because, guess what, I was one of those kids.  I'm passing on my experience to you so hopefully you'll take it to heart.

So where do you start when you don't have a clue?  First of all I recommend you sit down with your parents and get a conversation going.  Tell them what you'd like to do and ask their advice as to how to get started.  If they don't have any answers or the time, try and find someone in the clergy or a some one else you can trust.

Do you want to work for someone or be self employed?  Maybe you have a burning desire to change the world for the better (don't we all).

In order for you to live your dream maybe four years of college is needed.   Or, maybe you just need an entry level job at Krogers or Walmart in order to get you started.  Responsibility isn't easy but is needed if we are to get anywhere in life.  When you have to get up at 6:00 in the morning to be at work at 8:00 and you forgot to fill up the car the night before or maybe you had one to many with your friends and you're late for work, you'll come face to face with what responsibility is all about.

That's good.  Because it's teaching you discipline, shaping you, turning you and directing you where you want to go in life.

Like I said before, responsibility is learned and the sooner you take charge of your life the sooner you'll begin to see results.

Each of us has potential so Get involved, Take charge in mapping out your own destiny.

Don't leave your life to chance.

I/O

"The most important thing is to be happy." -REPEAT- "The most important thing is to be happy.  How many of us, are?  I found that after repeating these words I felt different.   I actually felt a change, like love flowing into my heart.

Just a few words of affirmation and what a change in my outlook,  We're all struggling with some thing.  We're all at some level of coming to grips with some thing, an awareness that we need to do more, a deep down feeling that something needs to change but some of us are so conditioned, so hard on ourselves, we're convinced that we don't deserve anything good happening to us.

Why is this?  We wake up thinking it's just another day with nothing to look forward to and are rewarded with exactly what we thought.  We watch the same depressing movie over and over and then wonder why we're depressed.  We continue thinking we're no good and then wonder why everyone else is going somewhere and we're still stuck on nowhere.

Thoughts are energy and there's a saying that thoughts transform and make us what we are.

I just proved this by repeating eight simple words.

So the lesson is, if you want a different output, change the input.

Tis a Noble Thought or Deed

Saint Aldegundis, Virgin and Abbess, c. 639-684
The word "noble" (from the Latin "nobilitas) is rarely used anymore yet I believe could still be used to define some individuals or professions today.

Nobility:  www.thesaurus.com:
1.  The noble class or the body of nobles in a country.
2.  In Britain (the peerage).
3.  The state or quality of being noble.
4.  Nobleness of mind, character or spirit; exalted moral excellence.
5.  Grandeur or magnificence.
6.  Noble birth or rank.

Synonyms:
Principled; honorable; estimable; worthy, meritorious; grand; dignified; august; majestic; stately; imposing; splendid; impressive; regal; lordly; noteworthy; notable; outstanding; exemplary; exceptional; famed; celebrated; acclaimed; distinguished.

Inner Bully

A young victim of bullying
Bully:  n.  A person who is habitually cruel or overbearing, especially to smaller or weaker people.
~
Human beings are a work in progress, from the very first moment they're born until the day they die.

When I look back at the years behind me, I am constantly revisiting myself and wondering why I chose to do this over that.  "Why did I choose to be hurtful when I could have easily handled the situation in a compassionate manner?"

I think it has to do with the inner bully inside of us.  If we're careless and let this bully have its way, it will start manifesting and dictating to us at a very young age, overpowering our empathy and infecting the way we behave.  I see this happening all too often today in the public schools:    A bully picks out his victim.  He taunts and whispers, humiliates and threatens until the victim is rendered helpless.

Many times a bully succeeds because no one bothers to point out to him or her that bullying is unacceptable and not to be tolerated.  There can be reasons for this:  indifference (don't care, can't be bothered, no big deal) from school officials, classmates and parents, in which a bully is further emboldened to pick another victim.

This question begs an answer:  "Aren't we supposed to be our Brothers Keepers?

In life, we are constantly presented with choices.

Today there are too many making the wrong choices, letting their inner bully dictate their actions,  wreaking havoc in and wrecking people's lives.  In some cases, leaving the victim so traumatized that they take their own life.

It's time to take a stand on behalf of those who are the victims of bullying.

It's time to stand up for the powerless, the frightened, the weak.

It's time to become our Brother's Keeper.

Tick Tock

I found a tree this morning
On my morning walk
I’ve come this way for many years
But this tree I did not spot
Its heavy trunk lay close to ground
I wondered what had brought it down
This dead, reclusive, Gothic tree
Whose hidden beauty I could see
And its arm that reached out desperately
And now recoiled in agony
Its gnarled, decayed and mottled limb
Reminded me of the Fairy Tale, "Grimm",
It had cried for help, but no one came
It then repulsed in shock and pain
Its plan was to live to seventy three
But, alas, it found
Twas not to be

The Conveyor Belt in the Sky

I'm trying to find something worthwhile to post about for this week.  Something that will resonate with you.  How about we all, "keep forging ahead?"

Life sometimes feels like being trapped in a block of cheese.  You keep watching the same disgusting movie over and over.  You're slowly realizing that you've handed control of your body and mind over to something else which has completely immobilized and demoralized you.  Procrastination sets in, "should I or shouldn't I"?  It can get so overwhelming you give up, feeling you're getting nowhere.  You're treading water in a heavy wool overcoat.

Did it ever occur to you that help is just a prayer away?  Prayer is a great way of freeing oneself from  debilitating habits.  It also helps immensely to have encouragement and support from family and friends.

Self improvement is not an easy task as we're finding out.   In fact it's far more than we expected.  Yet it is necessary in order for us to run across the finish line.

What's the biggest item on your "To Do" list for 2018?  What's holding you back?  What's the most important thing in your life right now?  What's the biggest obstacle you're facing?

There are so many of us who have "hangers on".  It's that old and outworn part of us that doesn't serve us well anymore yet stubbornly refuses to leave.  It's time for a shake up.  It takes courage to own up to things and face things when we're scared.

One of the hardest things in life is making the decision to get up and out of our comfort zones.  It's even more daunting when we're given an ultimatum, "you have to do this."  We're all on a one way journey, being propelled forward on some giant conveyor belt in the sky.    And, guess what, we've got plenty of company!

Most of the time it takes time for life's picture to unfold.  In the meantime we're fretting and dodging.  Don't fear life but rise to its challenges.   Add some chips and dip to that cheese.

You  can't learn anything worthwhile if you keep running away.
