The Day The Earth Stood Still

I did not raise a Son or Daughter
  As Sacrifice to wholesale Slaughter
  Yet this appears to be where We're  headed       
  The time has come of which I've   Dreaded
   This Rampage running Unabated
    And the World still distant,         Uncaring, jaded
   We've seen this playbook many Times before
    We've seen it play out on Distant Shores
    But I believe the Day has come
That we're introduced to a huge            Unknown
That Day will be like Earth stood still
   This Intervention comes against our Will
It's Purpose Is made clear to All
  To Stop humanity's descent, free fall
But untimely though this all may seem 
   It's a Measure we'll come to  Treasure
