Your Best Friend

Your journey here on earth is one of discovery-- discovering who you are.

All of us come to know our weaknesses and strengths through obstacles and challenges.

We may have a drinking problem or a drug problem.  Maybe we're abusive.

No matter how many times someone gives loving advice to someone who is in need of it, it usually falls on deaf ears.

We soon find that we are responsible for ourselves, our decisions, our choices and ultimately where we end up in life.

Some of us decide this is too much and don't fight anymore but succumb to the madness infecting our minds, our bodies.

Others, for reasons known only to them, fight to survive, fight to regain control and are successful in doing so.  In the process, unbeknownst to them, they come face to face with a new friend.

Challenges provide an excellent opportunity to get to know what you're made of .  You open up and admit that you can't do everything by yourself and need help.

Prayer is the closest thing that comes to mind when we're in trouble but there is something else.

I like to call it an extension of prayer.   -- a conversation with G-d.

An actual conversation like you were talking to your best friend.

You could start by saying a simple thank you for your life.  Then extend it to your job, your family, maybe a neighbor.    Continue by showing appreciation for being here as you are learning valuable lessons about yourself.   Talk your problems and your successes with Him and ask His advice.

You could even ask G-d, " how is Your day going?

Believe me if you try this you will be pleasantly surprised at the two way conversation that opens up.

You will soon learn that you have a new and wonderful counselor and it isn't costing you anything.

This new friendship is exactly what G-d wanted and you needed.

You could even ask Him how His day is going?

After awhile this will become a daily habit.

Try it and see what happens.  You have nothing to lose and everything to gain.
